Dr. Linda Cameron has had a long career of working with children of all ages. She is the mother of three, step mother of two, and grandmother of five. Linda grew up close to nature on the shore of Lake Simcoe and in the Toronto Beaches playing in the ravine and learning to sail by age five. Summer camp with her kids and outdoor education with her school students was an annual delight. As a Professor at the Ontario Institute of Education she supervised dozens of theses often on curriculum topics of the environment, play, drama and the arts. She is an internationally recognized authority on early childhood education working with the World Bank in Vietnam, with UNICEF in Central Asia and the Persian Gulf, and starting a Graduate Program in Education in Pakistan along with Oxford University. She has been a leader in literacy education co-writing the K-8 language arts series, Reflexions, for Scholastic. Most recently she co-created a curriculum literature series focused on wellness entitled “WellAware” for Pearson. She is most passionate about the education of children through free play in natural places, fostering imagination and creativity through stories and all the arts, and building kids’ confidence, self-reliance and independence through socially contextualized experience. As a resident in the Beaver Valley she relishes walking the trails with family and friends, canoeing the river with her son, gardening with her husband, and delighting in the vistas of the valley.

Re-connecting to the natural world has been a primary focus for GW and his family and HAW aligns with that more than any child care/education facility that they have seen.
GW was born and raised in Midland, ON. He has been employed as a golf professional at the Georgian Bay Club for the past 14 years. He grew up playing all sports including hockey, golf, basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse. Currently, he is most interested in learning about how best to interact with the natural world and how to best share that space with all of nature.

Jess has lived in the grey highlands area for 10 years and loves having so many outdoor activities nearby and places to explore. She grew up helping her family organize road running events that raised money for various charities throughout Halton. Some notable events were the Chilly Half Marathon that focused on raising money for a breast coil for the Hamilton General hospital as well as raising funds to support the new ward at Joe brant hospital in Burlington. Jess now works for an athletic company based out of Boston and is lucky enough to work for an organization that has a foundation that values promoting healthy lifestyles and ensuring kids have access to sport through many different fundraising initiatives around the world. Jess looks forward to raising her two girls to enjoy and respect nature and give them as many opportunities as possible to be outdoors exploring.

Will spent his childhood catching frogs, snakes, crayfish, and anything else he could find, on a farm outside of Feversham. He's now a father of two young boys who carry on the tradition at their home near Duncan (and at HAW!). He is a strong believer in the importance of early childhood education, free play, and outdoors time. His education includes degrees in Kinesiology from Brock University and Medicine from Western, as well as post-graduate medical training through Dalhousie and U of T. He loves small towns and has worked as a family and emergency physician in numerous rural and remote locations in Ontario, the Maritimes, the Yukon, and New Zealand. Spending time in these places has only reinforced his love for this beautiful area we get to call home.

Lauren’s love of nature started where she spent her childhood, in Blind River, ON. She chose to move to Grey County where she could continue having an adventurous spirit while sharing the same values with her children.
Her children attending HAW has given her confidence that they will have a genuine connection with nature that they will carry throughout their lives.
