Hundred Acre Wood Forest School is looking for a Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our team. We are looking to add another Educator to our toddler program to continue to provide the essential service of childcare for our community. If you are an ECE (or teacher, or with equivalent professional experience) who is passionate about nature-based learning, and you love taking little ones outside ALL THE TIME, then read on!
We are a licensed non-profit preschool centre located in Heathcote Ontario, situated on 100 acres of meadow and forested land, with an indoor facility that reflects our outdoor learning philosophy.
With your teammates, you will deliver a program that is emergent and nature-based, and meets the requirements of the regulatory bodies overseeing Early Childhood Education in Ontario. You will implement best practices with regard to environmental practices such as limiting waste, encouraging nature connection, and using natural materials for crafts and activities.
Duties
• Set up and maintain outdoor and indoor learning environments that invite play-based and nature-based learning
• Guide children through the rhythms/routines of each day
• Care for and connect with each child
• Oversee the health and well-being of all program participants
• Stay up to date with educational expectations of parents and programs
• Communicate professionally with parents and staff
• Perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to administrative, gardening, cleaning and cooking when possible
Expectations
• Must be physically able to assist children as required – (eg. Lifting, getting up and down from the floor frequently)
• Must be prepared to dress appropriately for weather and conditions in order to be comfortable outside for long periods of time and at all times of the year ie. rain paints, bug jacket, etc.
• Must have a working knowledge of centre policies and procedures and adhere to them at all times
• The ability to provide outstanding customer service to children and parents
• An affinity for the natural world – either some education in this field or self-education and experience is an asset
• Must take pride and joy in working with toddlers
• Must be comfortable changing tasks on the fly
• Must be a strong communicator with professional work ethic
Requirements
• Two-year Community College Early Childhood Education Diploma (or professional work equivalent)
• Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
• Experience working in the field of early childhood education
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
• A clear Vulnerable Sector Screening done within the past 12 months

Hundred Acre Wood Forest School is expanding, and our second location is set to open this fall. Our Feversham location will be a licensed non-profit preschool centre with an indoor facility that reflects our outdoor learning philosophy.
As we embark on this exciting journey, we are looking to build an incredible team of passionate and dedicated educators to help get our new location up and running. We are currently hiring preschool and toddler educators who are enthusiastic about outdoor education and committed to fostering a love of nature in young children. Our ideal candidates will have experience with early childhood education, a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and a strong belief in the benefits of nature-based learning.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Supervisor to join our team from September to December. This role has the potential for extension and may evolve into a Float, Toddler or Preschool Educator position within our daycare programs. As a supervisor, you will lead and support our team, reporting to the directors, ensuring the smooth operation of our forest school programs and maintaining a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for staff and children.
We are a licensed non-profit childcare centre and forest school in Heathcote ON. We are situated on 100 acres of meadow and forested land, with an indoor facility that reflects our outdoor learning philosophy. Our outdoor spaces include fire pits, trails, hills to climb, climbing trees, bike tracks, natural playgrounds, and more.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Parent Communication : Maintain regular and effective communication with parents regarding their children's progress and any concerns.
- Attendance Management : Oversee daily attendance records and ensure accurate tracking.
- Filing : Maintain organized and up-to-date records and documentation.
- Collaboration with HR : Work closely with HR on various tasks and initiatives.
- Morning Check-Ins : Conduct morning check-ins with staff and ensure a smooth start to the day.
- HR Absence and Decision-Making : Handle HR-related absences and participate in decision-making processes.
- Child Illness and Behavior Troubleshooting : Address and manage issues related to child illness and behavior.
- Onboarding Children : Facilitate the onboarding process for new children joining the program.
- Support in Staff Training : Assist in the training and development of staff members.
- Ministry of education ~ Maintain log books/paperwork
- Ontario Child Care Management Systems data entry
- Parent Tours : Conduct tours of the facility for prospective parents, showcasing our programs and environment.
- Ordering Supplies : Manage the supplies and equipment.
- Fire Drills : Plan and execute regular fire drills to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Inspections : Coordinate and prepare for routine inspections to meet regulatory standards.
- Enrollment Management : Collaborate with directors on enrollment processes and strategies.
-Child Care Licensing System updates
- Menu Oversight : Supervise the planning and preparation of menus to ensure nutritional standards are met.
- Program Substitution : Step in as needed to cover staff absences in various programs including in the kitchen.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience in an educational or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Passion for outdoor education, sustainability and the environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and roles.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is an asset.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Screening / Criminal Record Check
Opportunities : This position offers opportunities for growth within our organization. Depending on performance and organizational needs, there may be potential to transition into another role, such as a Toddler or Preschool Educator, or a float position to assist in all programs either at our Kimbercore or Feversham location.
