Welcome to the
HAW Bursary Program
“Time in nature is not leisure time; it's an essential investment in our children's health”
- Richard Louv, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder
At Hundred Acre Wood, we believe in the transformative power of nature immersion. Every child needs the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow in the enchanting embrace of an evergreen forest, a wildflower meadow and a babbling brook. We are honoured to introduce our HAW Bursary Programs and we look forward to having your children join us.
Empowering Every Child
Financial Support Bursary
Financial barriers should never stand in the way of a child's connection to nature. Our bursary program aims to make Forest School accessible to families from all financial positions. Through this initiative, we envision a future where all humans have a deep connection to nature and naturally become stewards of our planet.
Truth and Reconciliation Action Bursary
Hundred Acre Wood recognizes that historically, the industry of outdoor education has actively perpetuated cultural appropriation of Indigenous knowledge, skills, and cultural components. We are also acutely aware that the lands that our industry and school operate on, connect to, and teach on are the traditional lands of our indigenous neighbours and friends. This bursary program offers free programming to indigenous children to ensure that they have access and connection the lands of their ancestors.
How It Works
Families can submit their applications online. Our selection committee will review applications with care, ensuring that every child has the chance to experience our nature immersion programs.
Our Financial Support Bursary funds are distributed based on financial need, application date, and available funds. Families with a gross income of less than $50,000/yr are eligible. Exceptions may apply.
Our Truth and Reconciliation Action Bursary offers 2 weeks/year of free camp programming for children with an Indian Status Card. This applies to our summer camps, PD Day Camps, and holiday camps.
